| Pressure tek. Use bleach, Tri-Sodium Phosphate, alcohol, and dawn for roofs.
Simple cherry is for houses.
I prefer Emulsifier-plus personally.

| I read that adding the simple cherry to the roof mix hides the bleach smell. I also read the tsp can damage gutters and metals. I think you said the alcohol helps the soap? What benefits would the tsp give me? Thanks | |

| Adding simple cherry hides the bleach smell depending on the concentration.
Roof mix has a much higher concentration of bleach than house wash mixes so using a premanufactured product in my opinion is overkill price wise and unnecessary. Simple cherry is also formulated for houses, so it's cleaning power is designed to be weaker and gentler on screens and windows than straight TSP which is stronger and gives you more bang for your buck.
The bleach smell will overpower whatever you add to it because of the concentration you have to use for roof cleaning. You must wear a good filter mask. I like the 3M masks w/6009 filters. Chris uses a different mask/filter.
See Filter mask thread and Apple Cider Sauce thread.
TSP does not damage gutters or metals mixed at 4 ounces/gallon or less. I only use 2 ounces/gallon of TSP. TSP is a powerful detergent. It helps strengthen the bleach.
Alcohol helps add to the mold killing power, strengthening the bleach, and helping it penetrate into the shingles faster.
Without adding anything to bleach, to get ok results you would have to use 12.5% bleach at 50% or 6% sodium hypochlorite, which in my and Chris's opinion is too strong. I use it in the 35-40% range with TSP, dawn, and alcohol to get great results. The dawn thickens the mix up to make the chemical stick better and decrease the run-off. Tergitol NP-9 is even better.
Around 4.5% sodium hypochlorite is about my average roof mix, which is 4 times as strong as I use it for house washing. I don't use TSP for house washing because if it dries it can leave a film on the windows that can be difficult or costs you more time to remove.
