I think I read somewhere that using Butyl Cellosolve above 10% concentration is a health risk.

Keep it 10% or below.

That is good to know. Mike, you seem to be somewhat of a chemical guru. Thanks for all the great info!

Yeah man, you have to be in our business.

Plus I don't have a hot water burner, so I have to use more chemicals than the hard core guys like you who have HOT WATER burners!

I am jealous you have them on your rig with those monster 24hp 8gpm & 16hp 5gpm machines. You've got one KICKASS set up dude!

I can imagine once you go HOT you never go back to cold. I bet it makes a huge difference.

Mike, One day if you have some time and feel like help'n a brother out, I would love a "cookbook" of what you use on different surfaces and what mixing ratios. I think I am really missing the boat with making my own chems and you seem to have a very good grasp on that. If you ever feel like it you can PM it to me. I would really like to see what some of the chems and cost differences are between what you make yourself and what I am over paying for!!!

How much do you plan on making? A 55 gallon drum or 5 or 10 gallons?

My mix has pressuretek's F-13 in it. See if you can make your own from scratch. Try this mix.

5 Gallons - Powerhouse/gutter cleaner
Start with 3 gallons of water
6 ounces Sodium Hydroxide
32 ounces Sodium Metasilicate
64 ounces 100% Butyl Cellosolve (2-butoxy ethanol)
12 ounces Tergitol NP-9 or 16 ounces Dawn/Ajax
10 ounces Pinesol lemon fresh and/or Isopropol Alcohol

Top it off with water to make 5 gallons. This is pretty close to powerhouse.

I substituted pinesol and/or alcohol with the sodium ethylenewhatthefu@k on powerhouse's MSDS, I don't know if your local chemical supplier has it.

MSDS - Powerhouse/gutter cleaner
<1% Sodium Hydroxide
5% Sodium Metasilicate
10% Butyl Cellosolve
2oz/gallon NP-9
2oz/gallon Pinesol
