| In my area, there seems to be "seasonal" house washing. It's not that it gets too cold or anything, just that the customers aren't worried about their house during fall/winter. So, I am starting RIGHT NOW to really push roof cleaning. I am the only roof cleaner in central MS. You'd think that would work in my favor, but it doesn't. People here don't know about roof cleaning. The few people who do, used to live in FL! So, I am working on building a separate roof cleaning trailer, and getting the word out. I'm doing a postcard campaign right now, and I have 4 ads in the yellow book. But all I've gotten is angry phone calls from roofers! Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning more about pushing roof cleaning in my area. Any ideas? |

| Yes Jason, when I started out, 15 years ago, roof cleaning was almost unheard of. You need ads to drive folks to a web site where they can see before and afters/videos for themselves. Or Postcards offering free demos ? You need to network with painters, realtors, home inspectors, etc. Suggest a Merchant Circle ad, they are free !! |

| I'm on merchant circle already, but I might need to redo it. My current website is doing good, but I am thinking of a "dedicated" roof cleaning website too. |

| Jason Have you thought about targeting homes for sale ...it works here in Houston .....Its like selling your car first thing you do is clean it. Maybe those houses with for sale signs have the algea on their roofs....

| I have a whole program built around that. I target the people selling their home, then I get them again when they move into their new home. It's been working really well. My TV commercials have helped a lot with that. But, that program is for whole property. It's been the history that house washing tapers off in September, then almost halts completely in Oct. Then there is the week before Thanksgiving. House washing starts back again in the Spring, after the yellow pollen season. That's why I really have to concentrate on roofs! |

| What Jason and myself along with the others around the country that are not in Florida are having the problem of getting the word out kind of like how the guys in florida back then did. Just trying to find the best way that is still affordable but effective. |

You MUST network with other professionals like Painters, roofers, home inspectors, realtors, etc, etc. SHOW them what you can do by cleaning their roofs 1/2 off ! REFERRALS will be your life blood, UNTIL you create a demand for your services. Also suggest a video of before and after pics you can send people to SEE what is possible.
Right now, Realtors are HOT. Desperate to KEEP their listings, they will send you roofs to clean. |
